WhatsApp on Android gets notification bubbles
The update brings chat bubbles that float over other apps so users can reply quickly.

Menlo Park, April 25, 2026 — WhatsApp has begun rolling out a notification bubbles feature to Android users, displaying active conversations as floating chat bubbles over other apps. The Albanian-language report appeared in Telegrafi’s technology desk.
The feature, already familiar on Android for Messenger, allows users to read and reply quickly without switching to the main app. According to Telegrafi, the update is shipping gradually via the Google Play Store.
The trend toward fluid interfaces
The move comes as Meta, the parent company, doubles down on reducing user friction and offering more natural on-screen interaction, especially in messaging. Over the past year WhatsApp has also added channels, polls, voice transcription and AI integrations.
“Users don’t want to open several apps for a quick chat — notification bubbles speed up the reply,” Telegrafi wrote in its April 25 notice.
For users in Kosovo and the wider region, WhatsApp remains the dominant messenger, unlike some Western European markets where iMessage or Telegram have a heavier footprint. That makes any UX change relevant to millions of local users.
Privacy experts, however, note that bubbles can show portions of conversations on top of other apps, opening the door for sensitive content to be glimpsed by bystanders. WhatsApp has confirmed the feature can be toggled off in chat settings.
