PRISTINA — PDK deputy leader Bedri Hamza says Prime Minister Albin Kurti has offered the Democratic Party of Kosovo the position of Speaker of the Assembly if its MPs remain in the chamber during votes for president, Telegrafi reports.

According to Hamza, the offer was made informally during recent inter-party contacts, and he has described it as a “last-minute game” rather than a genuine attempt at a sustainable solution.

Telegrafi reports that PDK has so far refused to guarantee the presence of its MPs in presidential election sessions without a prior agreement on a consensus candidate.

LVV strategy and reactions

Within PDK, according to Nacionale, there have been intense discussions about whether the party should engage in an institutional swap or maintain a principled stance against the current government. Hamza has stated that “Kurti last-minute offers are political theater, not a serious attempt at a solution.”

From LDK, Nacionale reports, there are signs of greater willingness to cooperate with opposition partners, while a discussion about Vjosa Osmani return to politics is taking shape in the background of these talks.

According to Hamza, as cited by Telegrafi, Prime Minister Kurti recent proposals are “a tactical maneuver, not a credible offer for institutional stability.”

If the Speaker offer is confirmed as such, it would be one of the boldest political maneuvers of the current cycle, but also a sign of how far the sides are willing to go to avoid early elections.
