PRISTINA — The Democratic League of Kosovo has officially acknowledged that it is no longer self-sufficient on the political scene and is opening the door to closer cooperation with former President Vjosa Osmani, Nacionale reports.

According to the outlet, an open discussion has begun within LDK structures about the need to broaden the electoral base, especially in the run-up to the possibility of fresh parliamentary elections.

Vjosa Osmani, whose term as president ended at the beginning of April, is considered a figure capable of gathering centrist votes and shaping a more cohesive opposition bloc.

The political logic of unity

Political analysts interviewed by Nacionale stress that LDK is adapting to a new reality: within the current fragmentation of the opposition, going it alone risks further loss of parliamentary weight, while a united front could give LVV a serious challenge.

However, any rapprochement with Osmani will require complex negotiations over positions, ideology and key figures. There is also the risk of losing the party previous identity.

According to LDK sources cited by Nacionale, the time of solitary action has passed and the party “must open up to new alliances” if it wants to remain a genuine factor in the country political decision-making.

If this process produces a stable political structure, it could give birth to a new opposition bloc that visibly redraws Kosovo political geography ahead of the next elections.
