PRISHTINA, April 25, 2026 — New interior design trends are radically reshaping the look of the home bathroom. According to Telegrafi, designers are increasingly recommending “no tub, no cabin” spaces, where the shower is open and integrated directly into the floor tiles.

This style, known as the walk-in shower, has begun to dominate new residential projects in Prishtina, Peja and Prizren, especially in apartments with limited space, where every square meter counts.

Less glass, more space

Removing the glass cabin and the classic tub creates the feeling of a larger room and significantly simplifies cleaning. Non-slip tiles, floor drainage channels and neutral colors are the main elements that make the trend both practical and aesthetic.

According to Telegrafi, “the new trend is more functional and easier to maintain,” saving owners both time and money on cleaning and parts replacement.

Beyond the practical side, designers stress that bathrooms without tubs are also more accessible for elderly people and children, since there are no edges to step over. This factor has become decisive for multi-generational families, still common in Kosovar cities.

Preferred materials for these bathrooms include microcement, natural stone and earth-toned tiles. Indirect LED lighting and large mirrors complete the look, giving the space a spa-like atmosphere.

Specialists warn, however, that professional design of the floor slope and waterproofing is essential, as technical mistakes can cause long-term moisture problems.

Despite the slightly higher initial cost, walk-in bathrooms are increasingly seen as an investment that boosts the home’s market value.
