New Kosovar film screened to Pristina audience, begins tour through cities
The premiere of a new Kosovar film in Pristina drew directors, critics and a wide public, opening the way for a tour across Kosovo.

PRISTINA — A new film by a Kosovar director has been screened in Pristina, launching its tour through the country’s main cities. The cinema hall was full, while after the screening an open conversation took place with the director and members of the creative team.
The film addresses themes of family memory, relationships between generations and the challenges of life in Kosovo’s mid-sized cities. Critics who took the floor after the screening praised the cinematographer’s work and the construction of the characters, describing the work as an important contribution to local cinema.
The project has been supported by the Kosovo Cinematography Centre and has involved collaborations with film institutions from Albania. Part of the technical team were young professionals from the Academy of Arts.
A tour through the cities
After Pristina, the film will be shown in Prizren, Peja, Gjakova, Mitrovica, Gjilan and Ferizaj, while screenings in Tirana and Skopje are also being negotiated. According to the director, the aim of the tour is for audiences outside the capital to have direct access to Kosovar cinema, not only through digital platforms.
The film sector in Kosovo has seen a rise in production in recent years, with young directors also appearing at international festivals. Distribution to local audiences, however, remains a challenge because of the limited number of active cinemas.
The director said his aim was not to make a film that wins prizes but a film that people in Kosovo’s cities feel as their own, and that every screening in a new city is a new conversation with the public.
The film will continue to be screened regularly at the Pristina cinema in the coming weeks, while it is expected to apply to international festivals in the autumn.
